Camber Sands is an extensive beach and sand dune combination located by the village of Camber (near Rye) in East Sussex. There is no other such configuration on the East Sussex Coast and it can be found to the east of the estuary of the River Rother at Rye Bay.

The dunes have been formed from the sand that is blown inland. It collects around plants and fences. The marram grass that covers much of the dunes has a deep root system. This prevents the sand from disappearing. The combination of plants and fences actually stop the dunes from burying Camber village.

This area of outstanding natural beauty lies within the Rye Saltings, a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), while the rest is designated a site of Nature Conservation Importance.

When the sun is out this vast expanse of sand provides the perfect playground!
