Ironbridge Gorge, or the Severn Gorge as it was originally known, takes its name from its famous Iron Bridge that spans the river. The bridge, built in 1779, was the first of its kind in the world. It linked the industrial town of Broseley with the small mining town of Madeley. It is now recognised as a World Heritage Site and is of significant historical importance. Located just a few miles to the south of Telford, it is a perfect location to spend a few hours and to learn about the birth of the industrial revolution.
